Hello All,

I have recieved rejection in Canada student visa my academics are quite poor however i find passion in data domain and i have been working as "associate analyst" and "data associate" since last 3 years.

10th : 80%
12th: 48%
Graduation : Electrical engineering 5.9 CGPA (19 backlogs and cleared all)
ILETS : 7 overall no less then 6

Work experience : 3 years as associate analyst and data associate

Course in canada : Analytics for business decsion making in Moahwk collage (1 year).

Visa and Doc info: SDS , my ITR, father bank statement , LOA, My inventstemnt's declareation GIC paid, Fees paid, Work offer letters, salary slips, my bank statement ( Didnt put CA report or father ITR as father is Farmer.)

Refusal reson :
• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the
details you have provided in your application.

• Refused under R216(1)(b). Given the applicant's previous education and/or employment
history, I am not satisfied that the motivation to pursue this particular program at this point in time
in Canada is reasonable.

Someone please help me which things i should change in SOP or which documents i should include?
In how many days did you get the refusal in?

Try to put your own words to it looks more like Google search. I think explaining your low score can also help and how the courses you will be studying will help in your own words.

  1. Your SOP/LOE does have a bit of fluff that needs to be removed.
  2. There's no need to include anything related to highschool.
  3. In your "Professional Experience", you're overselling yourself. The visa office will wonder, "if this guy already knows so many things then why does he need to do a course?" Don't oversell your experience - you're looking for a visa, not a job. Only state your experience and what you did, in a matter-of-fact way.
  4. You've also unnecessarily repeated yourself multiple times through the SOP.
  5. The order of the sub-headings needs to changed. The most important parts are your reasons for choosing the programs, reasons for not choosing any local programs, and finally the reasons for coming back to India. All other sub-headings should follow after, not before.
  6. You've bolded and emphasized the wrong things. Only bold the truly important and make sure anything you bold puts you in a good light, i.e. don't highlight the negative attributes.
  7. There's no need to go into details of IELTS, especially because your reading score is poor. Just mention that you scored an overall 7.0. That's it. And move it to the end of the doc.

Add one or two from Coursera, especially if you have those Google or IBM data analysis certs. Only one or two, though. Don't include Udemy certs.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: APPLICATION FOR CANADIAN STUDY PERMIT

Dear Sir/Ma’am,

I, Vishal, Son of xxx, am submitting Study Permit reapplication to join a prestigious Mohawk Collage, Hamilton as a full-time student. I received an admission in the Analytics for Business Decision Making Graduate Certificate program. The program is set to commence on September 1, 2022. Unfortunately, my application for the Canada Student Visa was refused on the following grounds:

  • The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.
  • Refused under R216(1)(b). Given the applicant's previous education and/or employment history, I am not satisfied that the motivation to pursue this particular program at this point in time in Canada is reasonable.
Since I am a bona fide student, seeking temporary entrance into Canada for academic purposes, I will explain the refusal reasons in the ensuing paragraphs.

1: Education/Professional Qualifications: I have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Gujarat Technological University, India, obtained in August 2018 with second class. The program focused on various technical and non-technical aspect of electricity, it’s generation and consumptions in day-to-day life. During this program I have performed a basic data analysis on electricity consumption data for South Gujarat region as a part of my various projects and that eventually helped me gain my passion in the data domain. As a result, I landed an Internship in an Electric Vehicle start-up company where I was tasked with analysing data from electrical vehicles and its corresponding charging station. The information I gathered was used to formulate region level business decisions. This was an important point in my career as it steered me toward business analytics. After which I have joined GlobalLogic Technologies as an Associate analyst, Data quality. where I got chance to work with Google as a vendor and worked on Google’s Knowledge Graph where I refined my entry level analytical skills and developed visualizations with the aid of mathematical models and tools for further data analysis as a result my efforts spared the company over twenty-five hours every month. Currently I am working with an Energy Consultancy named Verisk analytics where I am assisting team to provide data solutions to our clients and help them take in-depth insights in energy sector on a data point of view. I have almost 3 years and 6 months of work experience relevant to the course which I am aspiring to study.

2: Why/Purpose of Analytics for Business Decision Making Graduate Certificate: Although I am well equipped with the entry level analytics skillset. In my current Job, it requires us to formulate data centric business decision Which requires advance analytics and knowledge of various analytical and visualization tools. and because of vague requirements it is not benefitting me on designation or compensation level. And surprisingly this program presents the learnings of those Analytical skills and tools I require to be successful at my profession. This 1-year program designed to give professionals with some industry experience, specialised training, and skill development in data analytics. The program focuses on helping students develop data analytics expertise in business-decision making. Through this course, I will develop applied advance analytics skills in industry standard tools and software including SPSS Modeler, R, Cognos, and OpenRefine. Some of the subjects and software’s I will be learning in the program are Data Modelling, Predictive Modelling, Predictive Modelling, SPSS modeler, Cognos which are directly co-related with the work I will be doing after returning India. Additionally, the program will inculcate me with management techniques to handle data analytics projects. These key skills will enable me to work in a project leadership position in my current company. Therefore, this 1 year, fast-paced analytics program is well suited with my current career aspirations.

3: Why Mohawk Collage: Mohawk Collage is leader among Ontario’s collages. The program Mohawk collage is offering provides an exceptional opportunity for experiential learning and well suited for my current career needs. I believe that these hands-on learning experiences will equip me with practical experience and boost my job readiness which I can apply at my job and even further help me get Senior level position at various organization in India. Since The programs at Mohawk College are designed to reflect the latest demands and trends in the industry that would be a vey good add-on to my existing skill set as a career point of view. Mohawk Collage conducts a various activity such as case study competition and networking events, which are beneficial for gaining hands-on experience as well as increasing my professional network. 4: Study Plan: Analytics for business decision making is perfect fit and addresses my career requirements at first hand. As I mentioned previously, in my current employment we have to provide data centric business solutions to the clients. I will be studying this program in 2 semesters. subjects such as Data Modelling, Database Analytics and Statistics for Business Analytics are the ones which consist of advance analytics techniques which will be very helpful on professional level apart from these subjects I will be learning Programming fundamentals of business in first semester this subject will help me view any business in analytical manner and will help me understand second semester subjects like Business analytics for manager and Strategy Analysis and Planning. In second semester I will be learning Predictive modelling which is very important and trending skillset to in the word of analytics. And finally, this program comes with Analytics capstone project in which will be addressing all the real word analytics problems and will present the capstone with the reliable and time efficient data solution which will point out the business in analytical point of view and help Business owner take decision to expand their business into different dimensions. Furthermore, this will act as a gateway for me to learn role of data in the crucial business decision making process.

5: Future Goals: With progressive reforms of the Indian government, India has emerged as not only a lucrative market for Latest start-up eco-system but also a promising avenue for the companies to establish their outsourcing facilities here. Big organizations like Google, Microsoft, Meta, Apple have either established or in the process of establishing outsourcing eco-system for their existing products and processes. After graduating from the program in Canada, I intend to return home to my family in India. By 2025 India is predicted to be world’s 7th IT market by investment, with a market value of US$ 194 billion Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, India’s IT industry has shown to be extremely resilient. Within the industry, demand for drafting employment is expected to increase 60% over the next decade. The growing demand for Big Data analytics in India is presenting favourable employment opportunities for professionals like me. My new qualifications coupled with my previous experience in the data analytics niche will enable me to seek fulfilling opportunities as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or Data Scientist. I aspire to work for cutting-edge companies in India such as Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Fractal Analytics, and Genpact. Working as a Data Analyst or Business analyst, I expect to earn INR 12 lakhs to INR 18 lakhs per annum. Within five to seven years, I would like to attain a senior-level position within my firm such as Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer. With a position advancement, I expect to earn a salary of ₹20,00,000 per year in my home country.

6: Why study in Canada: The field of business analytics is in a developing stage in India. As a result, the courses offered in my home country are highly rudimentary. While I have great respect for the Indian education system, I have personally experienced the shortcomings of this system, namely the deep focus on the theoretical aspects rather than the practical ones and lack of industry alignment. This prompted me to seek this training at a foreign institution. While looking to pursue my next phase of education Canada stood out to me the most. Canada known as one of the safest countries to study with appropriate support systems for facilitating diverse communities, Canada is perfect destination for any student in pursuit in education abroad. Another aspect that stood out to me is the high financial stability and growth Canada enjoys. Finally, looking at the affordability and experiential learning opportunities I came on conclusion that Canada met all my requirements better than other destinations.

7: Adequacy of Financial Resources: I have provided various documents and evidence of my financial resources, in my visa application. I belong to financially sound family, we have immovable properties worth CAD 185,000, Including our agricultural land in the state of Gujarat, our house, and our small business facility. Upon returning India after completing 1 year program in Canada My parents would rely on my help for managing properties and our small business. My father will act as my sponsor and willing to pay my whole 1-year Program fees (CAD 19,000) along with other expenses such as living, travelling, health insurance, etc. to put some more lights on the financial stability I have attached Net Worth Certificate from Certified Chartered Accountant showing my sponsor’s (father’s) net assets indicating his financial capability as well as my family assets that tie me to my home country. I have also opened GIC account in CIBC bank and deposited CAD 10,150 in order to meet my daily expenditures during this time period.

A breakdown of available funds to show adequacy of funds for my temporary stay in Canada as follows:
  • Net valuation Certificate issued by Certified Chartered Accountant of my father indicating the funds we have in the family along with the ties I have to my home country that will bring me back. Along with this I have attached an affidavit stating that my father willing to support me during this study period. (CAD 185,000)
  • GIC bank account in CIBC bank into which I have deposited (CAD 10,150)
  • Receipt of Funds paid to Mohawk Collage for fee purposes (CAD 19,000)
  • Bank Balance certificate stating the availability of funds in students account (CAD 16,000)
I believe I have required financial back up from my family to complete my education without any hurdles. All the necessary financial documents are attached for your reference.
