WES Equivalence

Hi,
I am from Pakistan, I want to ask do we need to get the copy our last degree verified from HEC for WES equivalence or we need to get all documents verified from respective boards like SSC from Karachi Board, HSC from Intermediate Board, B.Com and MBA degree from University first and than sent to HEC for equivalence.

You can not send copies to WES, the education board has to send your credentials to WES directly. Usually when you make an account on WES website, a template gets uploaded in the account for request of credentials from educational institutions. You can print it, submit it to your Uni, pay the fees and they send it to WES. It has to be board of education and not schools or Uni.

I have recently done my WES evaluation from Pakistan. Go to HEC website and enter your degree details. Apply for accreditation of your highest degree. If they allow you to accredit your highest degree without having to accredit SSC and HSSC first then there is no need to get those degrees accredited. Just create profile on HEC website and they will tell you all you need to do for accreditation.

Just ask me any questions here if you have any confusion. I will guide you further.

Thanks Uzair, Can you just give me an idea what would be the equivalence to Canadian degree if I have 2 year bachelors and 3 years Masters degree. Further, do I need to get equivalence of my Bachelors degree as well for WES?

You only have to send your highest degree to WES for equivalence. But to get Masters accreditation from HEC, you will have to get accreditation for previous degrees as well. WES assessment depends on a lot of factors such as standing and ranking of university, program length, courses studied, your grades, etc. When I sent my Masters degree for assessment, it was evaluated as Masters in Canada, but my friend's Masters degree was evaluated as Bachelors (4 years). So you can't be sure beforehand what the result will be.

Also look into other options such as IQAS if your university is not top ranked in the country. They are a bit lenient as compared to WES in their evaluation, but take more time.

Uzair, kindly guide me should I create a separate WES account for my spouse ECA? or I can mention same reference on my spouse documents as my own. Is it necessary to get ECA done for spouse documents when I am the primary applicant or its optional

If you want to claim points then yes you need to get your spouse's WES. You can't mention same refrence as its yours WES not spouse's. You need to create a different WES account for spouse same like the way you had done with your WES equilency.

One more thing please, kindly guide me how should I mention WES reference# on the copy of my degree/transcript that will be attested by HEC. Should it be simply written with pen or it needs to be printed on it? Also after creating different WES accounts for me and my spouse can I send the 2 sealed envelops together to WES?

I did not mention WES reference number on my copy, I forgot to do it. But it did not cause any problem. So don't worry too much about it. Just write it with a pen on a front corner.

You can send multiple sealed envelopes in the same courier envelope. Just make sure WES reference number is mentioned on each sealed envelope. My friends and I sent 3 sealed envelopes via DHL in same shipment.

No, get your documents attested by HEC first. Once all your documents are ready then pay WES fee.

You can have your documents sealed after writing WES reference number on it. Visit HEC office and they will seal it for you on the spot. I think you will have to visit R&I branch for this. But as I said earlier, it is not an issue if you mention reference number on the sealed envelope.

Yes you should first create account, pay fees, and as you mentioned you will get WES reference number which you can quote to the Uni to get docs. Moreover also a letter gets uploaded in your WES which have your reference number on it which you can print and give to your uni.
