Hello there,

I'm an FSW candidate and currently in the pool with 503 (including my spouse). However, it seems pretty tricky to get an ITA with this score this year. So I'm considering temporarily not including her in my application, as the new change to EE (I mean selecting by NOC) might bring uncertainty. After that my score will be 520. My questions are:

1. Is it difficult to sponsor my spouse after I get my PR, how long will this process take?
2. In the current situation, should I take the risk of waiting for some more time to be invited?

Plus: I have a valid job offer with positive LMIA which will expire in Dec 2023. My work permit is still in process.

Thanks!

1. If non accompanying then once you have PR then you move to Canada and sponsor her. Process can take up to one to two yeara. You need to stay in Canada except for short visits during the process. Or she applies for TRV, comes to Canada and you sponsor her inland. TRV is more difficult as IRCC will know she is not coming to visit.
2. Can’t comment. You have to decide if you are willing to wait a few more months of draws to possibly receive ITA for 503. Waiting a few more months may be better if you don’t want to be separated for years.

Thank you for your kind and detailed reply! It is really of great help to me. I think I’d better stay with 503. It’s really annoying to go through such a desperating process to sponsor my wife.

1. Not difficult but time consuming. If you have COPR, you can land. But you need to be in Canada to sponsor your wife. Processing times are ridiculous. 1 year plus. If you have COPR and add your spouse as accompanying, you can sponsor your wife but you cannot land until your wife gets approval. Processing time is decent. 4 to 5 months. Best option.
2. You are dealing with IRCC. They lack empathy. They are emotionless robots. They are unprofessional. They are inefficient. They can fk us all anytime. So its you who should decide.

Another issue to consider if you keep your spouse as accompanying and your score is not drawn. 503 May not be drawn this year. The government is planning to change EE to focus on on demand occupations (haven’t said what NOCs). There are many threads on this forum debating CRS scores and more people with high scores join the pool every day.
