Medical for Canadian Child?

I'm applying outland (London, UK), but happen to be in Canada on a trip for more than 30 days.

I received an email requesting my biometrics and a medical (within the next 30 days) for myself.

I've also received a medical request for my 6 year old child. My kid was born outside Canada (in the EU), but has a Canadian citizenship cert and Passport.

I've sent immi an email but they seem backed up, so I'm not confident I'll get a reply in time.

1) I've assumed that I can just get my biometrics and medical done while I'm in Canada at one of the locations listed, and that won't cause any problems with an outland application?

2) Have they just made a mistake asking for a medical for my kid? The child has an absolute right to move to Canada as a Canadian citizen, and I don't want to pay extra for a medical they don't actually need. Or is it common to ask for one if they are Canadian citizens born outside Canada?

Thanks

You can do either/both of them anywhere in the world where there are facilities. (Don't know how long to get an appointment in Canada now)

The citizen-child does not need to give biometrics or the medical.

BUT: it's possible the mistake was yours - did you include the child on the IMM0008 form? (The fine print says 'don't include citizens or PRs in dependents on this form).

Most commonly that's why this medical request occurs, 'pilot error.' If so, you might want to correct the form and submit with your question/explanation for why the child is not giving medical (along with eg passport or cit certificate to show citizenship).

Either way, contact through webform and notify the child is a citizen and should not need medical. It will take them some weeks to respond.

1, I assume that you didn't include the child as a dependent on the IMM 008, s/he should only have been included on the IMM 5406
2. If you included the child as a dependent on the IMM 008 that is why a medical was requested.
3. Send a webform with proof of the child's citizenship and only you need to do bio metrics.
