How close do the job duties have to match the NOC?

Hi everyone! Hope you're weekend is going well. This is my first time in the forum.

I am applying under the NOC 2221 as I work in a food company doing microbiology testing. I thought my work letter was good but now that I went for a consultation to double-check everything before I submit my application, I am not so sure anymore. Two consultants have given me different advice (One says my letter matches the NOC, the other says it doesn't and that I should get a new one). But I only have 10 more days as it has taken me so long to get all the documents.

I would really appreciate if anyone has any insights on how explicit/similar the duties in the work letter must match the NOC.

My work letter duties mostly say something like "Perform procedures for the lab, calibrate and maintain equipment, execute microbiological tests, perform X bacteria testing throughout production lines to support food safety and quality control".

Do these duties fulfill the NOC 2221 duty that says: "Perform limited range of technical functions in support of agriculture, plant breeding, animal husbandry, biology, biomedical research and environmental protection"?

My work letter never says "in support of biology" explicitly, but rather focuses on microbiology (which is a subdivision of biology but I don't know if the Officer would connect the dots). Also, I work in a food company, so what I do is not in support of biology, but rather in support on food safety (Does that mean that I don't match that duty?).

I appreciate any advice/help, thank you

Consultants in most cases are useless and a waste of money and time. Having said that no consultant or for that matter anyone here can tell you how a visa officer will evaluate the letter.

Only advice I give is to make sure that the language is simple enough and is not full of technical jargons. The people looking at the letters can not possibly know technical jargons of all the professions.

I know nothing about your profession and looking at what you have posted in my personal opinion I would say I think it seems like a good enough match from the statement you have shared from the NOC.

Again the keywords are "in my opinion". In the end no one can give you 100% assurance so rather than relying on others just do what your gut / common sense tells you.
