June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

Hi everyone, I had my citizenship application received by mail-in on June 23, 2021. My Background Verification was updated to complete Sep 23, 2021. I complete my Citizenship test last month on May 24. Since then, no updates, and my Language Skills, Physical Presence and Prohibitions are still "In Progress".

Is is usual that I would have completed the test without the other 3 being complete? How long do they other three take, and what generally holds them up?

My physical presence may be slightly complicated as I left country plenty of times for work, for 3 weeks at a time, multiple US trips, but I am confident I am well beyond the physical presence calculator. Hopefully I got all the dates right though!

Yes, the other 3 normally complete some time after you pass the test. How long it takes from test to completing the remaining 3 ranges from a few days to a few years.

For me, everything was completed on June 2nd, and today (27th), I can see the update for the oath ceremony (July 20th). Hopefully, you get the update sooner!

Hi everyone,

I finally got an oath invitation!! I will become Canadian in less than 2 weeks!!

This is my timeline:
Type: Paper application
Location: Mississauga
Physical Presence Days: 1110
Application: family (2 adults & 1 minor)
Application Sent: June 9, 2021
Application Delivered: June 14, 2021
AOR: Sept 15th
In process ECAS: Oct 18th
Background Check Completed: Nov 5th
Citizenship Test Request: Nov 30th
Test Window: Dec 6th - 26th
Test Given on the 21st/22nd of December (2 adults)
Test marked as completed on the 23rd/24th of December
DM: Jan 10th
A complication happened and my son's status changed to in process and his fingerprints were requested on April 20th and his background verification status changed to completed on May 20th
Oath Date: July 12th

Can someone update the tracker?
Also, my daughter lives in a different city (she is 21). Do we need to attend the ceremony from the same device (assuming that it's still conducted online)?

Still no updates on my application
Applied online in June 2021. Did the test in February 2022. However, BG verification, language, physical presence, prohibitions all are in progress since then. Is this normal? Any advise? Please help. All my friends who applied after me got their ceremony scheduled!

Yeah unfortunately online applications are being processed slowly overall and especially the earlier 2021 ones. If you look at the June 2021 tracker, more than half are in the same boat as you, while some Jan 2022 paper applicants are getting oath invites! Nothing to do but to wait and also order GCMS notes

Out of frustration with the lack of updates, I ordered them for myself on May 27 and finally received them last night. What caught my attention is that whenever someone actually handled my application, progress was made that day or the next day. So it's not that there was something wrong with my application that was making it drag on but just that it was taking forever for anyone to look at it after each step. So I suspect that all of us who are delayed unfortunately just have our applications in the backlog waiting for someone to take a look, and we just have to wait for that to happen.

What are the GCMS notes?

They give you details, often too many and in a not very user-friendly presentation, on your application (mine is 59 pages long). But it's the only way to get additional information on the status of your application. See for example https://www.gcmsnotes.ca/what-is-gcms-notes/ for an explanation. But as Canadian residents, we can request them for free at the link I shared https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do
so just go to this link and select "Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada" for the department, and select for citizenship application

I am also in same boat, after test all in progress, they asked FP from me too....

May be for me its delaying ciz i was in middle east for almost 3 years after my PR, may be thats why...

Were you inside canada straight in first 3 years from PR ?

BG in process means there are good chances of FP been requested and/or passport pages and\or explanation for any travel if there is one.
