From the application guide - "You don’t need to include addresses of family, friends, hotels or resorts where you stayed while on vacation."

What if we were outside Canada for 8-9 months visiting family in India? Does that still count as vacation (i.e. we don't need to give that address in India)? Should we show only Canadian address since the start of becoming PR and till the date of application submission? Totally confused.

If you read further down on that guide, they said you to provide a police certificate if you stay at 1 place for 183 days (6 months) in a row.

That means your 8-9 months visiting family in India doesn't count as a vacation. You must give both the address and police certificate of where you stay for more than 6 months. Eventually, they will know how long you weren't in Canada from your Physical Presence Calculator form, so don't lie here.

I recommend you give all Canadian addresses you have filed such as bank statements, phone bills...

Thanks for your help. And any suggestion on ~2 months long vacation spent in Canada before becoming PR (counted at 50% towards residency)? Do we provide that address?

I am thinking it will be simplest to list all the addresses (vacations or not) in last 5 years provided they were not super short trips (1-7 days). This would mean we will include addresses for 2 months vacation in Canada as tourist, 1 month vacation in US before becoming PR, and 8-9 months stay in India after becoming PR (PCC provided). Although we will not be abiding by their guideline to not to include vacation addresses, however, at least we will not be considering lying. So confusing

Well, it still could be a vacation. It depends. You could be backpacking across a country for more than a year. That doesn't mean that you resided in that country at a permanent address.

What address did you use as your postal address in your Canadian ID like driver's license during your 8-9 months absence from Canada?
Did you update your Indian address, as your new address in CRA or your bank records?

Short answer, use the address that was associated with your bank, driver's license, CRA, etc., during your absences from Canada.
Yes, you will need to produce a PCC from India.

Thanks. Maintained Canadian address on all the document during that time. e.g. CRA, driving licence, bank accounts etc.
