Think I'm gonna find a peaceful town to live by a lake but close enough to commute to work. Just enjoy my slow paced life and enjoy nature

What's a peaceful place in Ontario to seek something like that?

Hi all,
I got my application approval and passport back last Friday. I got a request to fill Schedule-1 in March. They requested me to send passport in April. My passport was with VFS and Consulate for two months. I made a bunch of calls and emails to request expedite the case. I finally got my passport back last Friday (June 3). However, IRCC is asking me to travel to Canada before July 5, in less than a month.
I am currently in US under H1B and I cannot travel onboard without a visa interview. I also emailed my company lawyer and they recommended me not to travel before October. Has anyone been able to ask for an extension from IRCC?

When was your medical supposed to expire? When was your passport supposed to expire?

When you received your passport back, there must be a letter along with it. That letter has an email address you can mail to if you find something wrong with it. You can try your luck there and see if they reply before July 5.

If not, you should go to the border, get your COPR signed by an immigration officer over there and return to USA. Make sure you can return to Canada directly from US and not your home country, when it's you are ready to settle in Canada. Otherwise, you will need to apply for something called "PRTD".

My medical was supposed to expire in Sep 2021. I got my medical in Sep 2020. But I was never requested to renew my medical.
My passport is supposed to expire in 2027.

Would it be possible to go to the Canada-US border, get COPR signed at the border but not travel to Canada? I cannot travel abroad outside US at this moment.

Why can't you travel to Canada and go back to US if you are on H1B? You can use AVR option.

No. It won't be possible. You will have to cross the border and turn your car around to activate your PR.

You need to call IRCC helpline and explain them this issue, after you have already sent them an email on their mistake.

What has happened here is you were not sent an request for a new medical. They missed out on it and you will have to suffer because of it.

Can you elaborate on your current status in the US?

I am under H1B and I am currrently under H1B extension review. It will be approved, hopefully, in the next month or so. But I cannot travel abroad right now due to two reasons: (i) pending H1B extension application, (ii) even if I get extension approved, I will need to schedule an interview with US consulate in Canada to get the stamp if I want to travel abroad. It is very hard to get an appointment scheduled at this moment. There is no available slots anywhere for the next 4-5 months.

1. You cannot travel without your extension approval. Period. Try premium processing.
2. If you get your extension approved, get the original I797 which will have your new I94 and you can travel to Canada/Mexico and stay 30 days and return to US within 30 days.

That's about the only thing you can do, forget about H1B visa appointments in Canada they are booked for foreseeable future.

Congrats!

You mean PPR, right?

You need to contact the IRCC by webform as well as phone to look into your request for an extension of the COPR with priority. I'm not sure how amenable they'd be in your particular case. And you'll probably need a re-medical and a new PPR if they agree with your request for an extension.

If the conservative party will win the next election (I believe they will no matter what because Canadians like to switch) country caps will be introduced and applied, and possibly the immigration numbers will be reduced considerably.

Plus, if IRCC achieves its goal of having control of the NOCs they can invite and Quebec being awarded almost complete autonomy in the processing of their immigration files, they wont need country caps at all.

I also believe that French will become even more important for immigration, so to any future immigrant, learn French and excel in English.

Lastly, I can guarantee that an overwhelming amount of outland applicants that have waited so long for their PPR and the ones waiting to receive an ITA for (including me) will become die-hard conservatives once they land.
If conservatives win, my biggest worry will be changes to medical system. They are a bit too much leaning toward for profit medical system.

Will the wait period reduce?
