Give it some time bro/sis, it's good you want to live and earn on your own. But an expensive car right off the bat is not a solid move and gonna eat up all your income. Buy a used mustang if you really want a mustang and before buying shop around for insurance.
Thanks bro. I looked at the second hand market (khijiji, autotrader) but the prices are as high as the new ones. Any idea why? Maybe I'm looking somewhere wrong?

Hi guys
I just got my copr earlier this month. Planning to land by June first week. Seeing you all talk about insurance is getting me a little worried. I was thinking of buying my dream car ford Mustang ecoboost 2022 full cash few months after I land. I'll be applying for my g1 license as soon as I land. Gonna start in Surrey, BC. Considering 400$ and all in insurance do u think it'll be a bad move?
For that car your insurance would easily be above $600 in Surrey. I would suggest you to not get a car the first year you are here. It will easily cost you $1000 with gas/insurance/maintenance

global chip shortage causing supply of new cars to run low, pushing used car prices up and car dealership scumbags to markup the prices of cars in their lots

I think 3.7 is the nicest rating I have seen for a Service Canada. This is the one I will choose to do my walk-in. If I get a call one more time, I'll ask for an appointment too at this location, although I don't have high hopes for an appointment.

Thanks for helping out, man. If you hear good first-hand experience for another location, do let me know.
You got call on your Indian phone number?

Yup. Used my Indian number.

Just a heads up - on the signup form, when they ask for contact information, I choose "Outside Canada" as my country. The lady who called me didn't let me book an appointment because apparently, I filled the form wrong.

If you fill out the form, choose Canada and choose the name of the province you will be landing. Tell them you have already landed and need an appointment. Have the zip code of the Service Center you are interested in handy.

Also, I found another Service Canada when one was able to get a SIN by doing a walk-in at 7:30 and walking out with SIN at 10am:

Service Canada Centre

5353 Dundas St W, Etobicoke, ON M9B 6H8

The above is through the telegram group I am a member of. Two people vouched for this location.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try.
I am landing in Vancouver. As per google reviews the one in the New Westminster allows you to walk-in. But reviews for all Service Canada locations aren't that great.

If you can travel, try for appointment at this Service Canada office - 3480 Gilmore Way, Suite 100, Burnaby, British Columbia. Very less crowd and should be quick.

Do they allow walk-in?
Yes, but as stated by @stirredo, best thing would be to book an appointment to have peace of mind.

When you raise a request for callback, put Canada no. (use textnow or fongo app). Tell them you want an appointment for new SIN at above mentioned office. The agent will let you know the earliest possible date. Even I was told by agent that appointments are generally open for next 30 days. So assume July appointments would not be open now.

If the appointments are full, ask agent to call you back once those for July open. They do call back :) (experienced myself)
