my wife's Citizenship Oath Ceremony is scheduled for June 6

can we still cross the border and return with her PR card a week later?

how soon can we apply for a Passport after June 6?

how soon can she apply for dual Citizenship w/ Philippines after June 6?

does she need to again apply or renew her Philippines Passport? (currently will not expired for another 5+yrs)

You need citizenship certificate to cross the border along with passport after oath via road. You cant fly or board plane without passport. You cannot use pr card after oath.
it seems that it takes 7-15+ or up to 21 days to get the certificate after oath hence plan accordingly.
You need original certificate to apply for passport.

I am not sure what you mean "apply for dual Citizenship w/ Philippines". I believe Philippines allow dual citizenship which means you can hold both passports and renew Canada and Philippines passport whenever it expires.

awesome - thanks for the reply
i'll check google for the rest my of question
I think you have to give up/destory your PR card at citizenship Oath Ceremony. Once she is a Canadian, her PR card is not valid (she is no longer a PR) and she needs her Canadian passport to travel (at least to travel back to Canada).

If entering at a land border and with supporting documentation (other Canadian ID, UCI#, showing you had oath ceremony) you should be able to establish identity and that now a citizen and be let in.

In fact if they believe you are a citizen they must let you in.

But in practice this could be a bit harder.

Right, I was assuming they travel by plane.

1. Your PR card has to be cut up during the ceremony.
2. She will be sent her citizenship certificate.
3. She doesn't need to apply for dual citizenship as Philippines recognizes dual citizenship. Nor renew her passport.

The Philippines does recognize dual citizenship, but Philippine citizenship is supposedly automatically renounced upon naturalizing with another country and would need to undergo reacquisition. How will they actually confirm it, I have no idea.

https://immigration.gov.ph/faqs/citizenship

  1. I am a natural born Filipino who was naturalized in another country; can I re-acquire my Filipino citizenship without losing current my citizenship?
Former natural-born Filipino who has been naturalized in another country who wishes to retain or re-acquire their Philippine citizenship may apply for Retention/Re-acquisition of Philippine Citizenship pursuant to RA 9225.
