I had a similar experience. I wrote a snail mail letter to the officer who had interviewed me - a very polite request to expedite my application. The letter was received, noted on my application, and attached to the paper file. The request was denied. Within a few days, my file moved to something called an ageing inventory list. I found this out from the ATIP notes I requested. It could have been a coincidence or maybe not. Under $2 for a stamp and envelope, so I feel it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. Apart from that, you can try getting the notes under ATIP, submit a webform, but remember you have no control over the process. See if you 'qualify' under any of the urgent processing criteria and submit that request as well.
