Hope someone can enlighten me. I have a pending Conjugal application (outland paper). Recently, I got TRV approval (just waiting for my passport to come back from VFS).

I am planning to enter Canada using the TRV and will wait for the decision from our Conjugal application. While waiting am I really eligible to apply for Open Work Permit?

I would like to share the result of questionnaires I answered from GCKey:

You are coming to visit as you aren't eligble for an open work permit. You are not the spouse as you are not common-law or married. You have a conjugal application.

Hello Natugrl,

My Spouse is coming next week to Canada as SOWP, which is going to expire on June 16, 2022. Would that be an issue? I already applied extension for another year along with my spouse last week? Please advise

You said you are on TRV but you have selected the option that you hold a TRP (Temporary Resident Permit).

"A work or study permit, or a Temporary Resident visa is not a Temporary Resident Permit. These documents are clearly marked as visas or work and study permits. "

Hello l@ksh, even if I answer NO to the question below I still get a result that I am qualified for OWP:

  • Holds a study permit and is a full-time student at a university, community college, CÉGEP or other authorized educational institution;
  • Holds a Temporary Resident Permit that is valid for six months or more;
  • Applied for Permanent Residence to an office in Canada and was determined to be eligible for Permanent Resident status (first stage approval)
  • Is subject of a removal order that is unenforceable.
If I am not really allowed to apply for OWP based on my answers, then their website is not accurate?

Hi, You selected below but you said you applied for outland paper. Below selection is for inland applicants.
  • I applied for permanent residence and was found eligible (first stage approval) under one of the following classes:
