North America is car dependent, so getting your license and a car will help a lot, specially since locations with public transport are full of students looking for work, so you have a better chance if you can drive to neighboring cities that don’t have buses.
Fake London and NA car dependency? Feels like I'm in an episode of NotJustBikes.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have lived in Windsor and it sucks like you said. If you are looking for a survival job till you start a job in your field try applying at domino's. I worked their 6 years ago for a couple of years and they usually hire right away.

I will be moving to Mississauga because I own a house there. A lot of jobs their but the problem is for each job there are 100's of applicants waiting to get selected. I left Canada 3 years ago and remember how hard it was to get a job back then. Last I was working for a top bank and they usually do hire every three months or so due to high turnover. But the problem is surviving till they hire me again. I have a family of 3 and with airline tickets so high ot will eat most of my savings and skyrocketing cost of living in Ontario I really don't have an option but to work as soon as I arrive
But if you own a house already, that is a good plus. You’ll have to accept whatever comes at first. I know some people that moved to toronto metro recently. It took them a bit, but they started working at a supermarket close to their apartment. Took 2 weeks to get a job. At least Toronto metro is not car dependent. Though you might have a long commute depending where you work.

Like fake London itself is not car dependent, but most manufacturers that say they’re in London, are actually in the outskirts where there are no buses. Though if you’re just gonna work at a Walmart, for example, then you can just use their buses which isn’t bad.

To people who have recently received PPR/Landed in Canada. What do you guys suggest regarding applying for jobs in Canada. Should I apply before my arrival or is it better to apply once I land. How hard is it to find a job before landing? Do employers ask for immigration status documents/sin before offering a job? Do I need a Canadian number?

Also for people in Ontario, how is the job market for skilled and unskilled work? I keep hearing Canada needs workers after pandemic but is the same valid for Ontario?

I don't have a ppr yet! Just expecting it soon and want to have a job as soon as I land
I tell you better idea. Come with a Canadian job in hand if you can help. Searching job in Canada while on a budget sucks big time.

Hence my question about soft-landing. If you any tips or tricks up your sleeves, please do share saar.

Here is my current plan:

1. Land in Canada.
2. If I have anyone known in the city, apply for PR card using their address. If no one found, leave without PR Card and apply for PRTD when I want to return back to Canada.
3. Get my SIN number.
4. Get bank account sorted.
5. Apply for health card if there is wait for it and there are no conditions for it.
6. Come back to India and apply for jobs. Tell the interviewers I am here for a short vacation before I return to Canada.
7. When I get a job, return to Canada using a PRTD or PR card that will be mailed to me by friend/someone known.
8. Profit

Current issues are PRTD might take up to 6 months to be delivered to me, also whether or not PR card can be mailed internationally through a courier.

Health card requires a permanent address, either a lease or a bill on your name and it takes 30 days to arrive. Sin you can get the same day if you are willing to wait 4 hours in line. Not sure if bank account is worth it if you aren’t living here, because scotiabank/CIBC offers free checking/credit card in your first year, for newcomers. Though you count as newcomer up to 7 years after becoming a PR and it doesn’t need to be your first. So maybe open at a smaller bank, so you can send funds, and when you move you open at big bank for the newcomer benefit. Make sure to schedule online with the bank, because most places aren’t doing walk-in and it’s taking like a week to schedule.

The bank account is for completing formalities for a new job. If I find a remote job, they might ask me for bank account details.

If I am missing anything in my plan, do let me know.

@stirredo so what if circumstances / job market demand changes and the employers move to interview / hire only folks living currently in canada? while you soft landed and staying back in your home country sending resume's waiting for a response.
the above situation is based on my level of trust of canada and ircc. i dont believe shit about this country anymore.

The NOC-specific draws probably won't start yet until after July, right? Since they ar
I don't think they'll start NOC-based draws without warning. Pretty sure the first draw in July will be the regular all-program vanilla draw.
Hopefully more than just the first draw! :) I'm also worried about NOC-based draws...

That's the reason I will be telling them I am in my home country just for a short vacation, with the intent to move shortly. I'll probably get a UPS mailbox with a real address while I will be doing my soft landing, that will serve as my address while I apply.

I forgot to mention that most jobs in IT right now prefer virtual interviews. If I start getting called for onsite interviews, I will move to Canada of course.

Don’t blame him either. I logged in to my file to realize I never submitted my schedule a through the online system. Luckily my VO also accepted it by email so I sent there as well. I could have had the same issue.
And it's that easy to hve your application cancelled. Meanwhile TR2PR morons get unlimited chances and screw up timelines for everyone else.

I don't disagree with you, but it's his application and he should've double checked. IRCC has no liability when it comes to stuff like this, it's on the applicant.
Of course they don't have liability. But it doesn't hurt to spend a more than 50 bucks and a weekend to design your flagship immigration website, especially when they have shown previously that they are willing to give unlimited chances for corrections to TR2PR applicants.
