I don't think they will refund you. This person that I know didn't get a refund, but since he had to travel in two days, he didn't care and just paid to get the process done. But check with them, maybe there are other options.

Woow. This shouldn't be cos its a family application of 3. I can't pay another almost $500 for it. Do you know if they do refund you of the cancelled application?

Someone else mentioned in this thread (or the one related to mail in passport application) that they got their file transferred. They mentioned about payment of urgent/express/weekend processing fees, however not about paying passport fee of $160 again.

• Every person who requests passport services must pay the applicable fee in the exact amount.
• Applicants who cancel their application or are refused a passport are not eligible for a refund of the passport service fee. Only the consular services fee of CAN$25, applied only to adult applications, is refundable.

If you transfer mostly cost will be CAD 45. They will waive the pick up fee if the application was waiting for more than 20 days
Its easier to transfer than cancelling application and redoing it unless its very very urgent

As far as my call, transfer file for $45 fee is possible but only within 10 business days prior to travel date. and then urgent processing fee is also applicable. so $45 + $110/$50 and it depends if the office is willing to do it for you assuming you have the proof of travel.

Hi, Can anyone pls tell me if My daughter - aged above 16 can use her health card as Proof of ID for new passport application?
She doesn't have driver license or Ontario Photo Card. Her Health card is not yet expired and has her photograph and her signature on it.

You also need surrender certificate to apply for OCI. it takes 2 weeks - 6 weeks depending on jurisdiction after which you can apply for oci. another option is entry visa which can be submitted with surrender certificate application and takes one week

Thank you for sharing your experience. Please let me know if they insist that the travel date has to be within 25 business days? I am also looking on your experience with the surrender certificate and entry visa to India as I am in the same boat as I have my Oath ceremony scheduled on 3rd May and I travel to India on 5th July.

Congrats on your oath ceremony and hope you have got your certificate as well.
For the passport, they didn't insist specifically, but they did understand that we had to process the Indian visa which would take time as well. I also showed my email confirmation of my BLS Visa appointment which helped my case.

I got done with my surrender and entry visa yesterday and it was pretty straight forward. If you have a booking it helps, if not you can walk-in. One thing to note, if you are applying Surrender and Entry visa together, they have another site next to the BLS Brampton office in the same plaza (Service Canada building) which processes them together. The security guard at the ground floor entrance provides a TOKEN NO. and the office is at 4th floor. I had to walk-in again the next day since I made a mistake in my visa application, there wasn't much crowd though.

PR can be references. Only the guarantor needs to be a citizen.

You can use any of the following types of ID alone or in combination to meet the above requirements:

• Canadian passport
• driver’s licence issued by a province or territory, or the equivalent abroad
• health card issued by a province or territory, or the equivalent abroad

YES you can, even work permit holders or students doesn;t matter as long as they know you for 2 years and they are residing in Canada. if they fit the 2 clauses below you are good to go, not every application they call and check for the references but yes for safe side notify your reference people aware that they may get a call from Passport Canada.

Your references must

• be 18 years of age or older
• have known you for at least
  • 2 years for passport applications
