Spouse open work permit

Hi. My fiancee is being offered by her organization to transfer to their Canada office (she would be travelling on a closed work permit applied by her organization). And I wish to move along with her on an open work permit. My concern is:

Considering the Open Work permit processing time is too high (51 weeks as of 8th May 2022) and we yet have to get married, is it recommended for us to get married before her organization applies for her work permit?

We would be applying from India.

We would be applying from India.

You need to be either married or common law in order to qualify for the work permit. Common law means that you have lived together continuously for at least one full year. If you have never lived together, then you need to get married before you can submit the OWP application.

I suggest that you apply after marriage . When applied separately there is lot of wait time plus rejections. I am facing that problem now. Applying together is the best thing to do.

How can someone get their SWOP application approved within Canada. Which has been applied outside Canada.
