I have asked the same question over and over but what I understand is that it very difficult because they will ask you if have been in state before and when or how did you Exit the country. I have two kids there that miss a lot and wanted to go see them but I have heard anyone here that crossed the border and visit with RTD.

Yes you can. As long as you didn't violate your status in the US or didn't overstay your visa when you were in the US.
You can apply for US visa and in most cases it will be granted.

Note: if you are already a PR, you have a better chance to get approved as long as you provide a valid reason for your visit.

Crossing the US border when coming to Canada doesn't affect your visa application.

Couple of my friends crossed the border when applied for asylum and all was granted visas when they applied for a US visitor visa.

i had my interview last week at the US consulate Toronto, the officer refused my application. She only asked me questions related to the previous visa i had before crossing to canada so i think crossing the US border can negatively impact your application but some do get lucky and get their visas approved after having crossed the border

Did anyone try to leave Canada with less than 6 months expiration date RTD?

My destination country has 3 months rule, but I'm seeing from Canada a 6 months rule on this page under Regular Canadian passports however it is not saying RTD, but still can we count other travel documents?

you cannot apply for RTD until your case is accepted as a refugee. Like a positive decision from irb

But they are processing urgent requests only, I've seen some posts with people who applied last May and still don't have it. Do you know of anyone that applied and got it within even a few months?

I applied RTD in January by mail and filled up ircc web forum for urgent. After submitting web forum, I got a call from ircc, they said that we will consider your application as an urgent. It's been almost 1,5 month getting a call but I did not receive TD yet. Is there anybody in the same situation?
