"Ghost Update" after Citizenship Test changed to Complete

Hi all,

I recently finished my citizenship test and on Feb. 7, the status was changed to "complete". Yesterday, I got a ghost update where the "last updated" field changed to Feb. 11 but I didn't really get any other changes aside from that.

Any idea what that might mean? Should I be expecting an interview soon, or maybe they'll ask me to take pictures of my passport or something like that?

Got a ghost update on Feb 4th, 3 months after test was completed....

It looks like ghost update leads too movement to next stage for some people but not for all.
I got ghost update in Oct but nothing so far.
Ghost update on my wife's file last week but nothing so far.
So not sure what all leads to ghost update that are not reflecting updates to the tracker. Earlier it used to be sure shot updates such as Test, DM, oath etc in the following days but now it too has become unpredictable, just like cic.

Nowadays on the new tracker if you get a ghost update and your background check was completed a year ago, it means they have renew it or you might get FP request. With this expect no immediate movement. However, if your background check hasn’t expired then you might see some movements with ghost updates. This is my experience.

I too got a ghost update on Feb 16. Since then I have been checking tracker everyday but nothing yet. I really hope it is next step as I wrote citizenship test November 18th. My wife also got ghost update same day and she wrote exam beginning Dec ‘21.

If it’s not your background check then definitely you might get decision very soon.

It’s very sad how citizenship application takes 2 years even after PR with all background and security checks.

In my case, I had ordered ATIP notes at the beginning of Feb. Turns out the ghost update was background check being updated. It was on the same date as the ghost visitation. Lol so that explained mine. Beginning of March we got to DM.

No. As someone posted, it looks like its the criminality update in most cases. If not then there might an update coming up soon.
Today my wife received the gcms notes and the tracker updated date is coinciding the criminality updated date(next business day published in tracker).

Mine turned out to be position. I got an interview and passport request email a week after the ghost update. Then I got a call form the citizenship officer 4 days after the interview request email and 3 days to the interview. She told me she has reviewed my passport copies and there is no need to proceed with the interview, that she is cancelling the interview and approving my citizenship application It was unbelievable! Then the following day in the morning all turned to complete with decision made on old ECAS. On the same day around 2 pm, I saw another update on the tracker: oath scheduled for the following week! Everything happened within 3 weeks from the ghost update date. I am now waiting for my certificate. I wish everyone all the best.

Hello all .I completed my test on March 21 completed. Then I send FP then on June 22 2022 background check completed. Any idea how long after for oath ceremony. Please share experiences. Thank you

I got Ghost update today which is exactly 1 year after my Citizenship test status has been updated to Completed.

No, they usually have 6 or 12-month deadline for each status.
