Hello everyone,

I applied for a Work Permit for an international internship (I'm a Master's student in France) in Canada that starts at the end of March 2022 and goes till September.
I applied first week of December 2021 and my biometrics are still valid from my Canadian visitor visa. The internship will last for just under 6 months, after which I leave Canada.
I got an exemption from LMIA from my employer! It's NOC A professional (engineering)

However I haven't had any updates whatsoever so far in my application... When I applied, it said 7-week processing time, which has already been overdue. Anyone has any suggestions or comments?
What happens if the time I'm supposed to start working at the internship comes and IRCC hasn't processed my application yet?

Thanks in advance!

The processing time for France is currently 9 weeks and it is updated every week . You should get the final decision within one week or 2 weeks. Wait and you will get a response back soon.

any news? i applied for open work permit from France and i didn't recieve any update
It took me 11 weeks in total from the day I applied to the day I got my passport back to me after request. Basically all the updates from IRCC came around the end of the "estimated processing times" frame on their website.

you mean they started reviewing the eligability at the end of the estimated processing time?
they started reviewing the eligability after 8 weeks from the biometrics date, almost 9 weeks from the day i applied

I don't remember the exact partial updates. I already had my biometrics, so my case might have been different.
With that I meant that I didn't hear much from IRCC until the very end of the estimated processing timeframe. In my case the estimated time on their website for France showed 10 weeks if I'm not mistaken. By the end of the 10th week they requested my passport. If you applied 9 weeks ago I believe you should hear from them soon! It depends on the time they show for processing times from France currently. :)

Yes I received PPR. I'm not french too, but I applied in France.
For me I re-applied in may 9 and received PPR may 13. (My first application on March 1 didn't move, maybe they withdrawn it)
So I sent my passport yesterday, and the tracking said that they vfs received it today at 9AM
(PS: mine is visitor visa, not work permit. I'm exempted of work permit as I will do research internship for only just 3 months)
