Query about TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA, when Work Permit is there

I came to India to see my sick mother. My initial VISA expired in October 2021, as my initial work permit was of 2 years. My current work permit will expire on 22nd April, 2022.

In this situation, I understand that I have to apply for a TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA, right?

Have you faced anything like that? The processing time is long now. Will contacting the Canadian Embassy help? Any idea about it?

I have a confusion. My current work permit will expire on 22nd April 2022. If I apply for temporary resident visa on basis of that and as nowadays it is not a matter of just 2 weeks (as it was before the pandemic), and if I get my VISA after 22nd April, then what will happen? If the work permit expires in the process of VISA, then what will happen?

If I apply for new work permit (I have my new offer letter with me, which is up to September 2023), it will take time (as I am applying from outside Canada). I should not wait for that right? I should start the VISA process right now, right?

Then what about the gap? When my current work permit expires, and I am still waiting for my new work permit. Will they process my VISA?

You need a TRV to enter Canada. There is no expediting processing so contacting embassy will not help. If you get your visa after April 22, then you can enter Canada as a visitor but not work.

You should start the visa process now for both TRV and work permit. Assume your job is LMIA exempt but I still think work permit processing is close to a year.

Thanks for your reply. Suppose I get a VISA after 22nd April and I enter Canada, then I will work on what basis?

Is it possible to apply for my new work permit after going to Canada? Or In Canadian Airport can they issue work permits instantly, as they gave when I first went there and showed my offer letter?

Otherwise, if I apply for my new work permit from India, it will take around 1 year to process. then I will work on what basis? I have applied for PR. If I get an interview call in between then without a work permit how will it be processed?

Processing for TRVs is around 95 days so you will be entering after April 22. To get a TRV you must show strong ties to home country, funds, etc. You can see if work permit will be issued but if not, you apply from within Canada (about 133 days). You can't work until processed. If TRV is refused, you apply for a work permit from India. Assume you are LMIA exempt. So you received ITA and waiting for COPR? When you first entered Canada on LMIA exemption did you only apply for a TRV not work permit? Not sure what you mean about interview.

Either way you are looking at months to process. I am not familiar with post doc positions so check the forum as there are many threads on post doc processing.

you can see if work permit will be issued but if not................issue from where, Canadian Airport? right? when I first went I applied for VISA on basis of Offer Letter and got WORK PERMIT in Canadian Airport.

So you received ITA and waiting for COPR?..........what do you mean by that?

I mean PR interview, as I applied for PR 2 months back.

Could you please share any link of thread for post-docs

Thanks

So you applied for a LMIA exempt work permit before coming to Canada, correct? Your work permit was issued when you entered. You didn’t just show up with a TRV. If so, you need to apply for a work permit.

You said you applied for PR. I assume this means you have been invited, not submitted a profile. Have you received AOR or COPR?

I am not exactly sure what is AOR or COPR?

Anyway, is it possible to get just one time entry VISA? My initial VISA was not TRV, it was worker VISA

Did you receive an IT in Express Entry or nomination for PNPs?

Acknowledgement of Receipt
Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR)
You should add on your other post that your work permit expires in April.

So you haven’t applied for PR then. You have submitted a profile. If you have COPR, you can enter on that without a permit. AOR may let you get a Bridging Open Work Permit when you come to Canada.
