Yeah I only received an email with a letter attached. The PDF was a letter which basically said it is in progress:

"""Security Assessments/Advice (CSIS PPU 005): Your Security Screening case is still in progress.
The information has been exempted from disclosure by virtue of one or more of sections 21 (as it
relates to the efforts ofCanada toward detecting, preventing or suppressing subversive or hostile
activities), 22(1 )(a), 22(1 )(b) and 26 of the Act until your case is completed."""

The rest of the letter was just random links for support, etc.

So, no details :|
Hi, any update?

Lol. Service canada isn't so bad I guess. However, I'm still waiting on my passport because they made a mistake by having my country of birth as Canada. So they have to correct it before sending it out. It took my friend 2 months because their system wouldn't accept his passport. Lol.

Looks like my application is deemed not normal. Still waiting for my LPP to start and the updated citizenship grant processing time is only 8 months. Time to get the MP into action as my application is now well past the normal processing time of 8 months.

Anybody else in the same boat?

January 2023 applicant here, just decided to check some other early 2023 threads.

IRCC has a definition of "non-routine" citizenship applications:
https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1169&top=5
However, I don't think they actually follow their own definition half the time - meaning when they wanna call your application non-routine just because of procrastination, they will do it.

Thank you for sharing the link. My application does not qualify for any of the points mentioned. Where are you on your citizenship journey?

My sig said most of it. On top of that, the first response IRCC gave to my MP's office was tell the client be patient, but my MP's office expects another update from IRCC by late May, so we'll see about that.
Another thing was one of the recent calls I made to IRCC I got one of the handful of better agents picking up the call and she helped me to put in a nudge to the processing office. Even though the last time I called again the processing office (Vancouver apparently) had not provided any update, the "deadline" for updates would be late May as well. So, if Vancouver doesn't respond by then, I was told I can call again and the call center can take a further step.

Did anyone get a ghost update on May 8, 2024? I got one and as usual nothing changed except the Updated date on top right corner of your application status page after logging in. Looks like my nudge to the MP's office did something in the background as I got an update from MP's office yesterday saying to be patient even though my application has gone past the current normal processing time of 8 months. Hoping for the best in coming days.

I contacted my MP's office a few days ago. They responded yesterday that they talked to an IRCC agent and they said that my application is in the Vancouver office and it is still in progress! No kidding eh? I could see that online as well lol
This whole thing sucks and all I can do is to laugh at how broken their system is ...
