The Immigrant Youth in Schools Pilot program that was recently introduced in Abbotsford, British Columbia (BC) will provide young immigrants and refugees with the tools and counselling they need to achieve their full academic potential.
Young newcomers in the Abbotsford area will have access to training courses, language coaching and individual counselling aimed at equipping them to attain their full potential at school.
The program is being funded by both the federal and provincial governments.
"The benefits of this program are far reaching as it helps strengthen our community and assists residents to work together to create a welcoming place for everyone," said Abbotsford West Member of the Legislative Assembly Michael de Jong.
