“Canada values strong ties with our European friends and after working with Czech officials for some time we are pleased to be able to extend visa-free travel for Czech citizens,” said Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander. “This move is a testament to the strong relationship between Canada and the Czech Republic and reinforces our government’s commitment to facilitate trade and travel.”
Canada’s visa policy varies country-by-country. The decision of whether or not to institute TRV requirements is based on a variety of factors. These include the country’s immigration history with Canada, asylum claims and immigration violation rates, the quality of the country’s travel documents, security issues, human rights, and bilateral relations.
The Czech Republic has joined a long list of countries that are TRV exempt. This list can be viewed here.
