The Toronto Region of Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) is hosting, "A World of Experience", a week-long event which recognizes immigrant contributions to the Canadian marketplace.

The event is being held in Toronto from May 29 to June 3, 2006, and will be attended by Canada's Federal Immigration Minister Monte Solberg, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Mike Colle and Toronto Mayor David Miller. The ceremony also vaunts the official launch of the Mentoring Partnership Awards and Immigrant Success Awards.

"We encourage all Canadians to join us in championing the improved access of skilled immigrants into the labour force," said Ratna Omidvar, Executive Director of the TRIEC and the Maytree Foundation. "Immigrants' contributions are crucial to our global competitive edge as well as the success of our country as a whole. When immigrants to Canada realize their workplace potential, every single Canadian benefits."

'A World of Experience' is financed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada with the participation of Ontario's Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration. It is estimated that the lack of foreign qualifications recognition amounts to a loss of roughly C$3.42 to C$4.97 billion annually, according to the Conference Board of Canada.
