On March 27, 2015, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) announced a record breaking Express Entry draw.
For the second week in a row, Canada’s Express Entry application management system resulted in a record high for number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence being issued in a draw.
In this sixth Express Entry draw, 1,637 invitations were issued, which marks an increase from the 1,620 ITAs that were issued in the March 20th draw, and 1,187 ITAs that were issued in the February 27th draw.
It is also important to note that the latest draw revealed a record low minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required to receive an ITA.
Candidates who are eligible for one of the federal economic programs submit their profile(s) into the Express Entry pool, where they are ranked according to the CRS. The government of Canada, provincial and territorial governments, and Canadian employers then selects the candidates with the highest CRS scores and issues them an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Each draw, CIC announces the lowest CRS score to have obtained an ITA. Six draws have now been held in 2015 and the minimum CRS score required has decreased with each draw. This most recent draw required a minimum CRS score of 453, down from 481 in the March 20th draw, and 735 in the February 27th draw.
The minimum required CRS score of 453 in the March 27th draw continues the trend of candidates being able to obtain ITAs without Canadian work experience, a job offer or Provincial nomination.
