The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited a total of 564 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence. The draw took place on December 1.

Candidates were invited under the International Skilled Worker Category, through two subcategories: Express Entry, and Occupations In-Demand. A total of 138 invitations were sent out through the Express Entry sub-category, and 426 were sent out through the Occupations In-Demand category.

Invited candidates must have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile, and score at least 74 points. They must also have submitted their Educational Credential Assessments.

In addition, candidates needed to have work experience in one of 86 eligible occupations. These are available on the Saskatchewan government website.

The province’s EOI system is used to choose candidates that are most likely to be successful in the Saskatchewan labour market. They are assessed according to their work experience, education, language ability, age as well as connections to the province.

Connections to the province include having a job offer, or having a relative living in Saskatchewan.

Candidates are given a point score out of 100 based on these factors. The highest scoring candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category

In the latest draw, Saskatchewan invited 138 immigration candidates under this sub-category. Candidates needed to have Express Entry profiles.

This sub-category is for immigration candidates interested in immigrating to Saskatchewan, and who also have a federal Express Entry profile.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan are given an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This practically guarantees receipt of an invitation to apply in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

Saskatchewan Occupations In-Demand sub-category

In the latest draw, Saskatchewan invited 426 immigration candidates under this sub-category. Candidates do not need to have an Express Entry profile. This sub-category is for candidates who have work experience in occupations that would address the province’s labour shortages.
