The Quebec Skilled Worker Program has reached the maximum number of applications it will accept this year. The program, which was re-opened on April 1, 2014, had placed a cap of 6,500 on application intake.
The cap does not apply if:
- The applicant submits an application under the Quebec Experience Program;
- The applicant has received an offer of employment from a Quebec employer;
- Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has informed the applicant that they have agreed to process their application for Canadian permanent residency; or
- The applicant is a temporary resident and eligible to submit an application for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).
The program was designed to help skilled workers settle in Quebec. Applicants to the program can qualify if they have a validated job offer, or if they achieve sufficient points on the Quebec selection grid.
The intake dates for applications submitted under the Investor Program, from September 8 to 19, 2014 and December 1 to 12, 2014, have been postponed. The government of Quebec will announce the new dates and processing methods shortly.
New rules regarding the intake and processing of applications will come into effect on April 1, 2015.
