The Government of Quebec has released new data on the number of applications received under the current Quebec Skilled Worker (QSW) program intake cycle. As of May 16, 2014, the program has received 2,173 applications. A maximum of 6,500 applications will be accepted in total.
The QSW cap of 6,500 is much more restrictive than the previous cap of 20,000 applications. The program has followed the lead of its counterpart, the Federal Skilled Worker program, in instituting overall intake caps for the past two cycles.
Applicants to the QSW program must hold at least a high school level of education and score a minimum number of points on a selection grid. Successful applicants receive Canadian permanent residency.
