The province of Nova Scotia says it will accept 350 new applications for its Category B of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Canadian immigration stream on Saturday, April 28. The province also reduced the list of opportunity occupations from 16 to 11.
Category B is set to reopen on April 28 at 9 a.m. Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT).
In order to apply through Category B of the of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream, candidates must have at least one year of work experience in one of the 11 occupations. A job offer is not required for this category and there is no mandatory minimum CRS score.
Category B functions on a first-come, first-served basis and applicants nominated by Nova Scotia are awarded an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, leaving them well-positioned for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a later federal Express Entry draw.
Category A of this stream, which remains open, requires candidates to have an arranged job offer supported by a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment from a Nova Scotia employer.

The list of opportunity occupations represents professions where there may be employment opportunities in the province of Nova Scotia. The occupations are classified in accordance with the National Occupational Classification (NOC). The NOC helps determine whether a job meets the skill levels established for skilled and semi-skilled occupations, and whether the candidate’s qualifications and experience match the requirements of the job.
