Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has announced that its new Parent and Grandparent Super Visa program has been incredibly successful in its first six months of operation. Since the program was introduced on December 1, 2012, over 3,500 visas have been issued.

“The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is a great success,” said Immigration Minister Jason Kenney. “Our government is committed to family reunification. I’m happy to see that the program is growing and that more and more eligible parents and grandparents are getting the opportunity to spend longer periods of time with their loved ones in Canada.”

The Super Visa program has thus far continued to meet its promised processing time of eight weeks. Of the applications that have been received thus far, 83 percent have been approved. Those interested in learning more about the specific application requirements for this program may look here.
