The Canadian visa application center (VAC) in New York City has been closed until further notice. Applications that have already been received by the VAC will continue to be processed.

Canadians across the country joined South Africans in mourning the passing of Nelson Mandela, and celebrating the former president’s legacy. Mr. Mandela was the first black South African president, and is known worldwide for his leadership in the struggle against apartheid.

Canadians are the most happy with their jobs, according to a recent study. The study reported that approximately two thirds, of 64 percent, of Canadians said that they loved their job or ‘like it a lot’. A full 24 percent of Canadians love their jobs so much that they said they would even work for free.

The province of Ontario, in partnership with the Federal Government, is expanding the successful Ontario Bridge Training Program. The program to date has helped over 50,000 immigrants become licensed in Canada and find jobs in their fields.

The Entrepreneur Start-Up Visa Program is close to issuing its first visas to applicants.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) announced today that it will offer priority processing of immigration applications from individuals who have been ‘significantly affected’ by Typhoon Haiyan.

Effective immediately, Czech passport holders no longer require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to travel to Canada.

In the aftermath of the devastating typhoon that ripped through the Philippines last week, the Government of Canada has created the Philippines Crisis Fund to assist in relief and recovery efforts. Already, the government has pledged $5 million in support to humanitarian organizations working in the country. It has also pledged to match donations made by individual Canadians to registered Canadian charities.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) will be introducing a cap on application intake. From November 9, 2013 to October 31, 2014, a maximum of 12,000 applications will be accepted for review.
