The Commissioner of Official Languages of Canada, Graham Fraser, together with his New Brunswick counterpart Katherine d'Entremont and Ontario's French Language Services Commissioner François Boileau, have urged the federal and provincial governments to increase their efforts to increase immigration in Francophone communities outside Quebec.

French Immigrants Moving To Montreal In Droves

A spokesperson at the French Consulate in Montreal estimates that there could be as many as 110,000 French citizens currently living in Montreal. The Consulate calculates that approximately one in two French immigrants register, and 55,000 had done so by 2013. This represents an increase of 45 per cent since 2005.


Canada’s Jobless Rate Drops To 6.8%, With Major Job Gains In Saskatchewan
