The new Agreement on Canada-Yukon Cooperation on Immigration was recently announced by the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Diane Finley, and the Yukon Minister of Education, Patrick Rouble. The new agreement will help strengthen the partnership between the two governments to encourage immigration to the Yukon Territory.

Human Resources and Social Development Canada is working with the province of Manitoba to develop a Letter of Understanding (LOU) that will strengthen protections for temporary foreign workers. Manitoba is the third province (after Alberta and British Columbia) that the federal government has begun collaborating with to ensure that these workers are guaranteed safe working conditions and the fulfillment of employment contracts.

Recent changes to the British Columbia (BC) Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) will make it easier for business immigrants to set up new businesses in the province. The BC PNP has lowered the minimum investment requirements for all three categories of the BC PNP Business Stream (from $800,000 to $400,000 for Business Skills, from $300,000 to $200,000 for Regional Business, and from $1 million to $500,000 for Strategic Projects).
