Southern Ontario town opens doors to immigrants through online portal
The Southern Ontario town of Peterborough aims to attract more immigrants, and has set up an online portal about living and working in the town to help achieve this goal.
"Our community values new Canadians, as well as the skills, experience and the knowledge they bring with them... So our door is open," said Peterborough Mayor Paul Ayotte.
The web portal can be viewed in 16 languages and contains information about life, work, business activity and education in the town, as well as resources to help newcomers settle into the community as quickly as possible.
"We hope that it showcases Peterborough to the rest of the world and shows that it's ideal to come and live, settle your family, have your children, do business and enjoy a high quality of life," said Becky Rogers, Manager for Arts, Culture and Heritage.
