The latest Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) draw invited 772 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.

Invited candidates needed to have been eligible through the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream. This means that they must have had a profile in the Express Entry system.

Candidates also needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of between 462 and 470.

Although candidates did not need a job offer to receive a Notification of Interest (NOI), they needed to demonstrate at least one year of work experience in one of six occupations, listed below:

This is the province’s fourth Tech Draw of the year.

How to get invited through Ontario’s Tech Draw?

You must first create a profile in Canada’s Express Entry system.

Express Entry is the system that the Canadian federal government uses to manage applications for permanent residence for three economic class immigration programs:

    • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
    • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Candidates in the Express Entry pool are ranked based on their age, education, work experience, language abilities and adaptability, according to the CRS system.

The OINP Tech Draw also uses the Express Entry system to pick eligible candidates that may address labour shortages, to apply for a provincial nomination.

Canada regularly invites the highest-ranked candidates to apply for permanent residence.

Those who receive a provincial nomination would also receive an additional 600 CRS points in the Express Entry system. This practically guarantees that they will get an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
