The Government of Ontario has issued 15 invitations to apply to immigrant entrepreneurs in a draw announced November 23.
The minimum score for the latest draw was 112.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)'s Entrepreneur Stream is designed to attract individuals who are looking to start a new business or buy an existing business in Ontario.
The stream operates on an 'Expression of Interest' (EOI) model that requires interested candidates to complete a profile and provide information on a number of factors related to their work experience, investments and human capital.
Candidates are given a score based on their answers and the maximum score available is 170 points.
Successful applicants obtain a Temporary Work Permit support letter — based on a performance agreement — to establish the business in Ontario.
Candidates who adhere to the investment and job creation requirements outlined in the performance agreement may then be nominated by Ontario for Canadian permanent residence.
