The number of US visitors to Canada appears to be on the rise, according to figures from Statistics Canada. The number of visitors increased by 3.2 percent in March 2013 to a total of 1.74 million. This included more than one million overnight trips.
The US and Canada share the largest land border in the world. It is unsurprising, then, that US residents make up the majority of visitors to Canada. By comparison, foreign visitors numbered 390,000 in March.
The two largest overseas sources of visits to Canada are the United Kingdom and France. These countries both recorded recent increases as well.
Conversely, travel from Canada to other countries decreased by 1.7 percent, to 5.5 million trips. This was predominantly the result of a decline in car trips to the US.
