Nova Scotia Immigration Minister Ramona Jannex said on Tuesday that the province aims to double the number of immigrants that settle in Nova Scotia. She said she hopes to have a new strategy ready by spring to achieve this goal.
At a Halifax Chamber of Commerce event, said that Nova Scotia's immigration advisory panel is currently working on recommendations and that she wants to implement the new strategy as soon as possible.
Around 2600 new immigrants arrived in Nova Scotia in 2008, many of whom arrived through the Nova Scotia Nominee Program.
