Nova Scotia invited 22 immigrant entrepreneur candidates to apply for provincial approval in a draw held February 19.

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)'s Entrepreneur Stream is for experienced business owners or senior business managers who wish to start or acquire a business in the Atlantic Canada province and who intend to provide active and ongoing participation in the day-to-day management and direction of a business.

The stream operates on an Expression of Interest basis and the first step is to register online with the NSNP.

Eligible candidates are issued a score based on the stream's points grid and are ranked accordingly.

The lowest-scoring candidate in the February 19 draw had a score of 112.

Those issued invitations have 90 calendar days from the issuance of an Invitation to Apply to submit a complete application for an Entrepreneur Approval Letter from the NSNP.

If issued an Entrepreneur Approval Letter and successful in their application for a work permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the entrepreneur will then have to operate their business for a year and meet the terms of their Business Performance Agreement before they can request a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
