Nova Scotia has invited eligible financial auditors and accountants in the Express Entry pool to apply for a nomination for permanent residence through its Labour Market Priorities Stream.

Express Entry candidates invited through the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities on January 24 were required to have at least five years of work experience in NOC 1111 — financial auditors and accountants — under the Government of Canada's National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2016.

Candidates who are approved for a provincial nomination under this stream will obtain an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points effectively moving to the front of the line for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in a future Express Entry draw.

To receive a Letter of Interest under this stream, the work experience outlined in the Express Entry profile must match the job description for the targeted occupation listed in the federal government's NOC 2016. 

Candidates drawn by Nova Scotia on January 24 had to meet additional criteria, including:

• Submission of an Express Entry profile on or after July 1, 2018;
• A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 400 and 450;
• A bachelor’s degree OR have completed a program of three or more years at a university, college, trade or technical school, or another institute; 
• A Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) skill level of 7 or higher in English or French for speaking, listening, reading and writing; and 
• Five years or more of work experience in NOC 0, A or B, and provide letters of reference from employers to demonstrate proof of a minimum of 5 years of work experience in NOC 1111.

Selected candidates are required to provide letters of reference from previous employers with the following details:

• Company letterhead;
• Signature by the responsible human resources officer, supervisor, or manager;
• Company’s full address, telephone number, e-mail and website addresses and be stamped with the company’s official seal (if applicable); and
• include all of the following information in one document: 
  • the specific period of the employment with the company
  • the positions held during the period of employment and time spent in each position
  • the main responsibilities and duties in each position
  • the annual salary plus benefits in each position
  • the number of hours worked per week in each position
  • proof that the work experience meets the lead statement and the majority (at least 51%) of the main duties as set out in NOC 2016.

Express Entry candidates who have received a Letter of Interest from the NSOI will have 30 calendar days to submit a complete application for a Nova Scotia provincial nomination.
