Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Canada Minister Jason Kenney recently announced an injection of $2.3 million into immigrant settlement services at four organizations in Edmonton, Alberta.

The announcement was made at the Bredin Institute-Centre for Learning, one of the four organizations benefitting from the funding. Their services include credential assessment for internationally-trained pharmacists, English language training for paramedics, and an overview of cultural differences in the Alberta workplace, specifically within the medical community.

The Edmonton Immigrant Services Association, Edmonton Catholic School District, and the Alliance Jeunesse Famille de l'Alberta are the other three organizations receiving federal funding.

"Access to these kinds of services is, for many, a first step in establishing networks and contacts so they are engaged and feel welcomed in their communities," stated Minister Kenney. "I would like to recognize the organizations that provide crucial support to those who choose Canada as their new home, helping to ease the stress of moving to a new country."
