North Bay, a community in northern Ontario, has launched its Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) stream on October 21.

A city with a population of over 50,000, North Bay boasts an economy that consists of manufacturing, education, forestry and tourism sectors. It is around 350 km north of the province’s capital, Toronto.

In addition, North Bay hosts many film and TV productions every year. Many of them can be found on this IMDb webpage.

Out of the 12 participating communities in the RNIP, 11 have announced their immigration program criteria.

The only community to have yet to announce their criteria is Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

What is the RNIP?

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) introduced the RNIP to address the economic and labour needs of participating communities - places outside Canada’s typical immigrant destinations.

Through the RNIP, these participating communities can attract and retain suitable foreign workers that will fill job vacancies.
