Canadian government introduces new project to help newcomers integrate into the economy
Earlier today, the Canadian government announced a new online project that will help newcomers integrate into the Canadian labour market.
The project will focus on the pre-arrival stage of the Canadian immigration process, so that immigrants will have access to the tools they need before they first land in Canada.
The government is providing $1.7-million to JVS Toronto, a non-profit organization, to help develop and support the Pre-Arrival Services Online project. JVS Toronto works with government bodies and private enterprise to help people develop the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their educational and vocational goals.
“Attracting and retaining the best international talent to address existing and future labour market challenges is critical to Canada’s long-term economic success. Our government is working with partners to address barriers to foreign qualification recognition so that newcomers can maximize their talents,” said Canada’s Minister of State, Peter Kent.
