New federal draw invites 3,900 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence

A total of 3,900 invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence went out to candidates in the federal Express Entry pool on October 3. The minimum score required was 445.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the 'tie-break' rule in the October 3 draw. As a result, all candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 445 and above who submitted an Express Entry profile before October 2, 2018 at 04:02:11 UTC received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in this draw.

Individuals interested in entering the Express Entry pool must first meet the requirements for one of the following three programs managed by Express Entry: the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Once in the pool, a candidate's ranking is determined on the strength of their education, work experience, language ability, and other factors. Candidates are ranked based on the CRS, which assigns a score out of 1,200.

Candidates who have received an ITA have 60 days to submit a complete application for Canadian permanent resident status to the Government of Canada.
