The latest Express Entry draw, which took place on November 8, invited a total of 2,000 candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 458. This is the first draw to operate under a new 'tie-break' procedure whereby in the event that multiple candidates have tied CRS scores, profiles are ranked according to the date and time of submission of the profiles, with profiles that have been in the pool longer being prioritized for invitation over newer profiles. Therefore, candidates in the Express Entry pool with a score of 458 or above at the time of the draw were possibly issued an Invitation To Apply (ITA) depending on the time their profile was created. Therefore, it is possible that not all candidates with a score of 458 were invited in this draw.
The most recent federal Express Entry draw was not limited to any specific program; candidates in all programs managed through Express Entry were in a position to receive an ITA. In order to qualify, individuals are first required to meet the eligibility criteria for one of the three immigration programs managed through the Express Entry system — the Federal Skilled Worker (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Once in the Express Entry pool, candidates are allocated a CRS score based on the following factors: civil status information, education, work experience, language ability, and other criteria. The allocated CRS score determines candidates' ranking in the pool. During periodic Express Entry draws held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the highest-ranking candidates receive ITAs.
