Canada invited 3,500 candidates from the Express Entry pool with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 444 in the most recent federal draw, which took place on April 11.

For this draw, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) implemented the 'tie-break' procedure to select candidates from the pool. The date and time of the 'tie-break' was March 26, 2018 at 08:25:40 UTC.

The tie-break rule prioritizes the profiles of Express Entry candidates who have been in the pool longer. The April 11 draw was not limited to any one program managed under the Express Entry system.

Those interested in entering the pool need to first meet the eligibility criteria for one of the three immigration programs managed through the Express Entry system — the Federal Skilled Worker (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Candidates with a complete Express Entry profile are assigned a CRS score based on various factors, such as education, work experience, language ability, and other criteria. The assigned CRS score impacts the candidates ranking in the pool. If a candidate successfully obtains an Invitation to Apply (ITA), he or she can submit an application for Canadian permanent residence to IRCC.
