According to Statistics Canada, Canada produced 106,900 new jobs in the month of September. Though most of these were part-time positions, this figure is 10 times better than what economists had expected.

This monthly increase is the largest overall jump that Statistics Canada has ever recorded since it was established over 30 years ago.

Most of the job creation was is Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Positions were created across many industries, including health care, business, building, agriculture, and construction.

Canada’s unemployment rate remains steady at 6.1 per cent.
