Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 3,000 candidates from the Express Entry pool with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 446 in the latest federal draw, which took place on March 26.

For this draw, IRCC implemented the 'tie-break' procedure to select candidates from the pool. The date and time of the 'tie-break' was February 23, 2018 at 08:06:19 UTC.

The tie-break rule gives priority to profiles that have been in the Express Entry pool longer. The latest draw was not limited to any specific program managed under the Express Entry system.

In order to enter the Express Entry pool, interested candidates need to first meet the eligibility criteria for one of the three immigration programs managed through the Express Entry system — the Federal Skilled Worker (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Candidates with an Express Entry profile are assigned a CRS score based on factors including education, work experience, language ability, and other criteria. The CRS score determines candidates' ranking in the pool. With an ITA, candidates can submit an application for permanent resident status to IRCC.

Candidates with lower CRS scores can increase their ranking in different ways; visit our dedicated page to learn more about improving your profile and ranking in the Express Entry pool.
