Participants from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, were polled on a wide array of immigration issues. According to the recent poll, Canadians viewed immigration more positively than Americans and Europeans.

Almost 70% of Canadians polled felt that new jobs were created in 2010 by immigrants who established new businesses. Similarly, 60% of Canadians polled felt that immigrants helped enriched the culture with their individual customs and ideas. Both responses were considerably higher than those from Europe and the United States.

Compared to Europe and the United States, fewer Canadians believe that immigration numbers are too high. Analysts attribute Canada’s positive attitudes to immigration to its immigration programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, which attracts highly skilled immigrants to the country.
