Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Minister Diane Finley recently announced that funding of more than $600,000 will be provided over three years to help Nunavut attract newcomers to the Northern Territory.

The federal funding will be directed at enhancing online content, tools and services to promote Nunavut as an immigration destination, and will help newcomers settle once they arrive.

“Immigration and the successful integration of newcomers are priorities for Nunavut,” stated Ed Picco, the Minister Responsible for Immigration. “This funding will help us develop new and innovative ways to connect immigrants as early as possible to the resources and services they need to make a successful transition to their homes in Nunavut.”

Federal-provincial/territorial contribution agreements to develop online services have already been signed with Alberta, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon. British Columbia and Manitoba have also received funding to enhance online immigration and settlement tools through existing federal-provincial immigration agreements.
