A guaranteed working income of $25,000 for every Canadian would ensure a more comfortable life for those struggling to make a living in Whistler, British Columbia says Blair Wilson, the Member of Parliament for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country.
It would help address the region's need for both skilled and unskilled labour, the MP who represents Whistler said this week. Wilson also believes that increasing the number of immigrants allowed into the country every year would help fill the area's desperate labour shortage. He said he has told Immigration Minister Monte Solberg that he believes the number of Immigrants allowed into the country should increase to 350,000 per year. "We need more people,"
Wilson explained that many people simply aren't paid enough to set up residence in the region. "I'm a big proponent of a guaranteed working income that all people should have $25,000 a year, tax-free," Wilson said. "I think that would allow people a better chance to work and live here in Whistler and in other parts of Canada."
